Description
A citadel called 'Fontanini di Sotto' from the 15th century, in the Emilian Apenines, at 650m height.
This citadel is situated in a fascinating area, surrounded by forests, fields and small rivers.
The towner, from the 16th century is known for the history of the Ercole Auregli manuscript (captain in 1602 in the Estensi army).
2 old stones on the groundfloor refer to the building of the tower: 1586-1596.
The tower has been entirely renewed ont he inside.
The outside remained its 'historic' looks.
Montombraro (at walkingdistance fro Fontanini, approx. 800m) has a lot of sportif possibilities to offer.
Plenty of walkingtrails in the direct surroundings.
The province of Emilia still makes its products by hand, such as the famous Parmesan cheese and the well-known Modena meatproducts (Mortadella, Prosciutto and Salami).
Firenze, Bologna, Maranello and Modena are not far and perfect for daytrips.
