Characteristic holiday rental property located in the ancient town of Vouno on the isle of Chios. Vouno is one of the famous mastic producing villages of South Chios. This two storey stone town house was built some time pior to 1850 for an affluent family of farmers. In 2009 the neglected property was restored by a couple of Atheneans as a labor of love. The house has a fantastic array of original features, thick stone walls, exposed beams and flagstones. The decor is a mix of antiques and contemporary pieces that merge beautifully together. From the terraces you can enjoy spectacular views across the mastic and olive trees to the blue waters of the Aegean Sea and the peninsula of Erytha in Turkey. A kitchenette on the terrace provides for relaxing alfresco dining and wining in addition to handy cool drinks during your sunbathing sessions. You may want to start your day by having your coffee sitting comfortably on the stone bench on the "sokaki" (means traditional village street where people gathered to exchange news in front of their homes) besides the house fountain and across a lovely small church. A selection of beautiful beaches can be reached within a 5 min. drive (Mavra Volia, Lilikas, Komi, Agia Fotini etc). The region features a cluster of similarly interesting villages that all date back to medieval times (Mesta, Pyrgi, Patrika etc). The capital town of Chios is within 20 min. drive. The island has an ultra rich history and numerous places of interest to visit besides the beautiful coastline which is a very short drive away. In the property you will find a comprehensive guide that gives you tips on places to visit plus the best restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. If your stay is longer than one week linen package will be charged on a weekly bases.
