Description
The Lodge is located in absolute peace and rural tranquillity in the immaculate, landscaped grounds of a stunning medieval Kentish farmhouse with views over meadows and towards Orlestone Forest which is carpeted with bluebells in Spring and is a haven for birds.
Walkers will enjoy the many attractive rights of way that are close by to this high standard property. This delightful part of Kent abounds with interest; the RSPB nature reserve at Dungeness is just across the Romney Marsh - an area famous for its history of smugglers haunts, ancient churches and beautiful villages with histories stretching back to the Vikings and before. The coast is very accessible with its many attractions, the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway runs from Hythe to Dungeness and can be boarded at many points along its route across the Marsh. Steam enthusiasts will also find the Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway a delight from its main depot in the ancient Cinque Port Town of Tenterden to the end of the line at Bodiam with its magnificent castle beside the River Rother. There is a wealth of castles of great historic significance including Sissinghurst, Leeds, Scotney, Hever and Dover among others.
Local villages are a pleasure to visit with many having character pubs providing good food. There are a number of excellent golf courses in the area, coarse and game fishing, cycling, opportunities for equestrian activities and much more. The bustling town of Ashford is 12 kilometers distant with its international station and nearby Eurotunnel terminal.
Converted from a former stables and later a workshop where world-class harpsichords were made and played, the Lodge has been thoughtfully designed and converted with every facility installed and good quality furnishings throughout.
