Description

This spacious, recent restored water mill from the 17th century is situated along the river Lozoya within approx. 1km from the public road. The mill offers a view over the waterfall, a lake and canal in which you can swim, and the surrounding mountains. The canal has partly a harden bottom and in the summer a swimming pool stair, so that children can swim perfectly (depth 1.50m). The interior of the mill is authentic with an interior mix of robust and warmth, typical for the Castilian style, divided over 2 floors. On the garden level, you will find the spacious living room, still the original mill mechanism. Due to the sleep vides at 2 bedrooms on street level (reachable via a steep wooden stairway), 10 adults, even 4 children or 2 extra adults can stay in the mill (NOTE: height of the vides is 1.65m). This cosy accommodation is in the midst of the nature area of the Sierra de Guadarrama (with among others the very rare Iberian emperor eagle) and yet only less than 1 hrs. drive from the many historic and cultural places of interest like Madrid (73km., tip: park at Plaza Castilla and take the metro to the centre), Segovia (53km.), El Escorial (59km.), Pedraza (33km.) and Sepúlveda (55km.). This is next to the authenticity of the watermill, an unique location. Old Roman hiking paths along typical villages and along beautiful nature, starting directly from the mill. Even during the weekends and holiday periods, enjoy the pure peace here. Daily shopping can be done in Lozoya (5km.) and Buitrago de Lozoya (15km.) When the owner is in the neighbourhood, he will show you the original mill mechanism under the mill, where earlier grain was made with.
