Particularly popular is the partially covered private 1st floor terrace which overlooks the play area in the huge garden and has super views over the length of the valley, including east to Mariapfarr, the sunniest place in Austria. Mauterndorf, with its imposing castle, medieval centre and gondola lift is the focus of the valley for visitors, but the larger Tamsweg has the best swimming complex. Folklore is still very much part of the Lungau and there are several interesting festivals over the course of the summer.
